Gilbert Parent, Le Bûcheron (Lumberjack)

…is a creative artist, using music, dancing, singing, Canadian culture, history, story telling and folklore to educate and inspire students Canada-wide!

In the last 35 years over 1 million Canadian students have experienced Les Bûcherons’ lively, interactive and FUN presentations that showcase their love and appreciation for Canadian History, French Canadian Culture and the environment.

Through participatory, hands-on performances, your students experience chapters of Canadian history dating back to 1534. They will feel as if they’ve magically stepped back in time! Through music, stories, dances, props, workshops and audience participation your students will journey “in a canoe” across French Canadian history and culture.

There are a lot of educational benefits to having Gilbert Parent, Le Bûcheron be of service at your school. We encourage students to understand the traditions and cultural diversity that render Canada a truly unique country, and help to build the children’s awareness and appreciation for Canadian culture, music, folklore and values. In addition, students’ self-esteem is built up as performers, public speakers, artists, dancers and musicians just to name a few.
